Kim Kelly-Speranza has long dreamed of opening a business that focused on seniors. The journey that led her to the opening of Canopy Way Adult Day Care began over ten years ago while living in Palm Bay, Florida. She found herself getting to know her neighbors who were mostly elderly. Through one of the seniors she assisted she learned about Riversedge Adult Daycare in Palm Bay. She became a volunteer leading activities, exercise sessions, playing games, helping with feeding and socializing with clients. In 2015, Kim and her husband, Angelo, relocated to Amelia Island full-time. Kim continued to pursue a Bachelor of Science Advance Allied Health Degree which she received in 2017.
Kim has accomplished a lot since her move to Amelia Island. She became a Jazzercise instructor/franchisee and began her business with classes at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation property owner's club from September 2015 thru December 2017. Then, in January 2018, Kim opened a small fitness studio on the southend, AmeliaFit, where she continued teaching Jazzercise, as well, as provided other fitness formats yoga, Barre, gentle stretch, Silver Sneakers, and Pilates. AmeliaFit was also selected as the inaugural fitness provider for premier senior living community, The Lakeside at Amelia from June 2019 thru November 2021. In addition, Kim has been affiliated with premier senior living community Osprey Village since 2015.
The vision for Canopy Way Adult Day Care started to become a reality when Kim secured the location at 5024 First Coast Hwy, formerly the "Dome," in April 2021. Since then the property has continued to undergo a major transformation and is scheduled to open soon.
Kim shared, "I feel blessed to have found my purpose in life. I look forward to welcoming those who need a helping hand with their activities of daily living (ADL's) or who just want to come and socialize with others in the community. Canopy Way Adult Day Care is sure to become a popular place where the services are of the highest quality and everyone is treated with the utmost respect.
